Find your English level
How it works
Answer 15 grammar and vocabulary questions, then speak or write for a minute. You get your level, a pronunciation clarity score if you spoke, the mistakes we spotted and what to practise next. It runs in your browser, and Rozy doesn't store your answers or your voice.
What the levels mean
- A1
- Beginner. You understand and use very basic phrases: introducing yourself, simple questions and everyday words.
- A2
- Elementary. You can handle simple, routine situations like shopping, directions and talking about your family or job in short sentences.
- B1
- Intermediate. You can deal with most everyday situations, describe experiences and give simple reasons, though longer conversations get hard.
- B2
- Upper-intermediate. You can talk about many topics with some fluency, follow longer discussions and explain your opinions clearly.
- C1
- Advanced. You express ideas fluently and precisely, and cope with complex language. Most of your remaining mistakes are small.
Questions
Is this English level test really free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no email and no payment. You answer the questions in your browser and see your result straight away.
How accurate is the test?
It's a quick estimate, not an official exam. Fifteen questions plus a short speaking or writing task can point you to the right level, but a longer, supervised exam is more precise. Use the result to decide what to practise, not as proof of your level.
What do A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 mean?
They're levels from the CEFR scale, which many schools use. A1 is beginner, A2 elementary, B1 intermediate, B2 upper-intermediate and C1 advanced. This test covers A1 to C1.
How does the pronunciation clarity score work?
Your browser's speech recognition turns your voice into text and reports how confident it was in each phrase. We turn that into a percentage. Accent, microphone quality and background noise all affect it, so it's a rough guide and not a judgement of your pronunciation.
Do you record my voice?
No. If you choose to speak, your browser's own speech service converts your voice to text (Chrome uses Google's service, Edge uses Microsoft's, Safari uses Apple's). Rozy doesn't record or store your voice, your text or your answers.
Can I take the test without a microphone?
Yes. You can type a short answer instead, or skip that part. If you skip it, the result is based on the quiz only.
Does this test give me a certificate?
No. It isn't an official exam and it doesn't provide a certificate. If you need an official score for a school or job, you'll need an accredited exam.
